1948 Copa de Oro Black & Gold Fantasy Pair of Giraffes
This limited Copa de Oro line was called a "menagerie' in fantasy. These remarkable flights of fancy consisted of animals that were produced in terra cotta or white clay. Elaborate handmade embellishments were usually gold gilded. These labor intensive pieces of art were quite costly in the 1940s and are rarely seen today.
The pair of giraffes for sale have looped golden manes and were glazed black before the addition of gold was applied. This was truly a crazy detail oriented long process to create such magical creatures, which totally makes sense on why they are so difficult to find today. Lucky for you I have one pair left. These two I was going to keep for myself, but knowing me, I would break them before they were even given a chance to shine.
These two beauties are in amazing condition being that they are from the 1940s, they were very well taken care of and have no flaws. Their weird and strange pronounced features and coily mane leave a lasting impression. They stay with you because they are so unlike anything you may have seen before, and you just gotta have em!
Both stand approximately 5.5" tall.
